Endometriosis Treatment

Acupuncture for endometriosis

Endometriosis is a painful condition that produces many uncomfortable symptoms and often compromises women’s fertility. Many of the symptoms include heavy menstruation, extreme cramping, pain in the back or lower abdomen, painful sexual intercourse, ovarian or abdominal swelling, and more. In Western medicine, endometriosis is confirmed by laparoscopy, and is often not fully diagnosed until the woman has had symptoms for an average of 7 years.

The treatment options for western medicine is pain management, laparoscopy, and hormone therapy (which can interfere with the ability to conceive). The missing link is getting to the root cause of the endometriosis and treating the body as a whole.

At Points For Wellness, we have developed a powerful individualized treatment strategy that significantly reduces the pain, bleeding, and infertility that is often caused by endometriosis. The benefits of this treatment option is that it is less invasive, less costly than drugs orsurgery, and provides a natural approach without side effects. Our goal is to enhance your fertility while treating the root cause, and reducing the symptoms caused by endometriosis.

What to Expect with Acupuncture for Endometriosis

After an in depth health history where we review your overall health, in combination with reviewing any lab work, taking the pulse and looking at the tongue, we are able to come up with a Chinese medical diagnosis. We then create a comprehensive individualized treatment plan that includes nutritional and lifestyle recommendations as well as specific nutrients and/or herbs to improve your root imbalance and get you results.

Generally, acupuncture treatments consist of weekly visits for 8 weeks, and after a case reevaluation, sessions could move to twice monthly. Acupuncture treatments help to relieve pain, regulate circulation, and correct the imbalance.

A More Holistic Approach

Even though the cause of endometriosis isn’t clear, we do know that there are common risk factors that contribute including genetic predisposition, exposure to environmental toxins, radiation, immune system abnormalities, hormone imbalance (too little progesterone and high estrogen). Regardless of its cause, endometriosis has been linked to infertility for decades. We take a natural approach, constantly getting to the root cause while emphasizing the importance of overall health and well being of the body, mind, and soul.

The goal of our integrative, thorough approach is to reduce inflammation, support the immune system, regulate hormones and reduce pain. Our focus on nutrition, acupunctureherbal and nutritional medicine, has worked extremely well for our patients. At Points for Wellness we provide treatments focused on your individual needs, and work with you one-on-one to achieve the results you desire.
